Key numbers – International mobility report – 2022

Key numbers – International mobility report
The objective of this report is to provide key figures related to students enrolled in higher education around the world. It is based on the data collected by the Unesco Institute for Statistics. A longitudinal approach was also considered to highlight the changes over the five years (2008-2018).

The OECD forecasts a total of 8 million internationally mobile students by 2025 (OECD, 2017). Is this still a viable assumption? The pandemic has disrupted international student mobility. What will the future of international student mobility actually look like after the crisis?

This report:
- Compare the research, education, teaching, innovation and influence indicators by regions (Asia, Europe, North America, and Oceania) for the THE ranking;
- Compare the demographic information (student/staff ratio, percentage of international students, ..) about the Top 200 institutions by country and region;
- Find out how each of the indicators mentioned above correlate to one and another;
